Brief Description: A majority of this collection is comprised of the journals and written works authored and compiled by Betty Fairchild; dream journals, personal recollections, fictional tales, and descriptions of experiences in Hawai'i, Korea, and Bolinas are all included. Additionally, stories written during Ms. Fairchild's period of LGBT activism can be read. After a personal move, Ms. Fairchild discarded many of her writings and poems up until 1981, therfore the collection does not include any of her earliest works and begins in the mid-80s.

Biographical Note for Fairchild, Betty (1921 - 2010) : Betty (Allen) Fairchild was born September 4, 1921 to Dwight and Adelma Allen in Niagara Falls, New York and died November 7, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. She married Bill Fairchild at the age of 20 and had five children, Michael, Blaine, Brian, Barbara, and Elizabeth. She was involved in Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAGL) and additionally co-authored Now That You Know – A Parent's Guide to Understanding Their Gay and Lesbian Children which was one of the first books to address the issues for parents through the coming out process.
