Scope and Contents: Mark Evan Rorvig, Ph.D (1950-2002) served as associate professor of library and information sciences at the University of North Texas from 1995-2002. Dr. Rorvig’s research focused primarily on deciphering and processing large amounts of information for research and surveying purposes. Through his research Dr. Rorvig produced four U.S. patents on information retrieval algorithms. Additionally, Dr. Rorvig had been nationally recognized as a pioneer in the field of information retrieval. His research benefited the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Intel Corp. In addition to serving as faculty at UNT, Dr. Rorvig served as a computer engineer for NASA at Lyndon B. Johnson.
