Abstract:

An attempt to film every extant book, pamphlet, and broadside publication written through 1820, Early American Imprints chronicles the development of American Literature and national life.

Guide:

Charles Evans' American Bibliography (Z1215.E92) is a chronological dictionary listing of books, pamphlets and broadsides published in America. Volume 14, edited by Roger Pattrell Bristol, is a cumulative author-title index to the whole work, and acts as a guide to the set, listing the critical Evans citation number. Use this citation number to locate the microprint text.

National Index of American Imprints through1800: The Short-Title Evans (Shipton and Moody) is an author index including items in Evans, as well as some 10,000 additional titles not in Evans (including most, but not all, titles in R.P. Bristol's supplement). Includes citation numbers. All items in microprint. (Z1215.S495, 2 vols.)

Supplement to Charles Evans' American Bibliography (R. P. Bristol) lists more than 11,200 titles by imprint year. Most of the titles are in the microprint collection. (Z1215.E92334 Index) .
