Eleven audio recordings of oral histories with figures related to the Dallas LGBTQ community conducted by members of the community history organization The Dallas Way.
The Dallas Way was founded in 2011 "to gather and preserve the untold and under-told stories of the Rainbow Community of Dallas, through the collection and preservation of historical archives, the capturing of video and audio recordings of personal oral histories of individuals, the collecting and publishing of the written stories of Dallas-area LGBTQ organizations and members of the LGBTQ community, and the public speaking presentations of personal stories as told by individuals from within the LGBTQ community and by the many dedicated allies of our community." The Cathedral of Hope (CoH) was founded in 1970 when 12 people gathered in a Dallas home to discuss establishing a Metropolitan Community Church congregation. The congregants gathered in private homes for the first year and a half of the church’s existence, using a coffee table as an altar. Today the church has over 4,000 members and is one of the world’s largest inclusive churches that primarily serves the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender population.
