Abstract
The records of the Screwmen's Benevolent Association which as a local chapter of the International Longshoremen's Association. Material in this organization's records consists of correspondence; various Union and local agreements; a grouping of affidavits of birth which were required for membership in the S.B.A.; records from the 1965 strike; constitution and bylaws of the S.B.A.; an International Longshoremen directory; proceedings of national and regional International Longshoremen conventions and from the convention of the Texas State Federation of Labor; welfare benefit plan booklets; the handwritten minutes of Local 310 from 1903 and 1905; material related to meetings of Local 301 from 1955 to 1964; receipts, deposit slips, blank forms, and miscellaneous business papers; ballots and results from election of officers for Local 307 from 1966; and a List of voters for referendums or issues which include an affiliation of International Longshoremen with AFL-CIO (1959), Ledgers recording wages and taxes withheld, local dues, and working orders for ships, gangs, and barges.
