Brief Description: The collection consists of six boxes of materials related to Herndon's 1964 book The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven: The Guy Lombardo Story, including extensive typed transcripts of interviews with Guy, Lebert, and Carmen Lombardo, and others, along with drafts of the book up to the published version.

Biographical Note for Herndon, Booton (1915-1995) : Booton Herndon was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 9, 1915. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, and later relocated to New Orleans, where he worked for the Item Tribune. He served in the United States Army from 1943 through 1945, and resided in Manhattan, in New York City in the late 1940s. Herndon wrote prolifically, authoring dozens of books on a variety of topics, and thousands of articles. He died in Charlottesville, Virginia on March 29, 1995.
