Administrative/Biographical History
The Texas Industrial Arts Association (TIAA) was founded in 1955 by industrial arts educators and teachers who recognized the need for a state organization to represent industrial arts as a phase of general education. In the 1980s the organization's name was changed to the Association of Texas Technology Education and empahsis was placed on being an advocate for the study of technology education, in all grades, "to prepare the youth of Texas for success in a technological society" (Texas Technology & Engineering Educators homepage, www.texastee.net).
Dr. M. D. Williamson, Associate Professor of Industrial Arts at North Texas State University, served as vice-president of the TIAA from 1963-1964 and as President from 1964-1965.
