Scope and Contents: This collection contains Joshua C. Chilton’s personal letters, printed materials of the institutions where Chilton worked including programs and class tickets for the Texas Normal College, and other administrative papers from Chilton’s career including copies of the 1890-1891 catalogs and a circular. Of note, the collection also contains a handwritten draft of the speech Chilton gave on the steps of the Denton County Courthouse at the opening of the Texas Normal College.
