Brief Description: The College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism Collection (1940’s – 2000’s) contains photos, film negatives, posters, CD's, cassettes, and documents from the UNT College of Merchandising, Hospitality, and Tourism faculty, staff, and students.

Arrangement: This collection is arranged into 3 series. Series 1 consists of 5 boxes. Boxes 1 through 4 contain photographs and negatives, and Box 5 contains CD's, DVD's, and floppy discs. Series 2 consists of 2 boxes, which contain documents and newspapers clippings. Lastly, series 3 consists of several posters housed within one oversized archival poster box and one poster tube.
Biographical Note for University of North Texas. College of Merchandising, Hospitality, and Tourism. : North Texas State Normal College offered its first courses in clothing, textiles, and cooking, then known as domestic science, in 1911. The NTSTC Department of Home Economics was first established in 1941. In 1946, the program was renamed the School of Home Economics, with by Dr. Florence I. Scoular serving as the first dean of the program. Additionally, Schoular Hall was named after Dr. Scoular in 1946. The school was later renamed the School of Human Resource Management in 1986, and in 1992 the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management. The School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management became the College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism in 2012. Dr. Judith Forney served as interim dean from 1999-2002, and has served as the current dean since 2002.
