The Fibers Program at the University of North Texas was founded in the late 1960s. Many graduates of the program have gone on to become successful working artists around the nation. Showcasing work from around the country, the program was groundbreaking in its approach to fibers media. Exposure to professional artists and experienced faculty shaped the academic focus of students in regards to the level of possibility, as well as the diversity of work found in the profession. In 2018, the program ended when the College of Visual Arts and Design finalized construction on the new Art Building.
