This collection consists of 110 photographs primarily documenting the construction of barges, tugboats, icebreakers, cutters, and other oceangoing vessels at Gulfport Shipyard on the Sabine-Neches Canal in Port Arthur, Texas.
Biographical Information:

Stephen E. Davis was the Chief Engineer and Assistant Manager of Gulfport Shipyard in Port Arthur, Texas and of Sabine Steel & Construction from 1936 to 1948.

Administrative History:

These photographs were collected by Stephen E. Davis during his time as Chief Engineer and Assistant Manager of Gulfport Shipyard and Sabine Steel & Construction in Port Arthur, Texas, from 1936 to 1948. The photographs were donated by Terrence E. Davis, son of Stephen E. Davis.
