Margaret Ellen Nelson Sherman was born in San Saba, Texas to John Byron and Madge Marie Nelson on May 30, 1919. She attended Abilene Christian College, Texas Christian College, and North Texas State Teachers College. She married R.H. Marshall and had two sons Victor and Allen Champ Marshall. After they were divorced, she married Lawrence Farish Sherman on March 21, 1957. From there she went by the name Margaret, not Ellen. Margaret Sherman died on November 14, 2007. Before her death, she wrote for several small newspapers in the Denton area, had a local TV series, and wrote a book entitled
