Gustav “Gus” L. Seligmann comes from a military family and attended schools in Germany, Virginia, Oklahoma, and New Mexico while growing up. He earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in history from New Mexico A and M. (now New Mexico State University). His Ph.D. was awarded to him at the University of Arizona in 1967.

This collection is arranged in two series. Series 1) Student Family Papers are arranged chronologically, then alphabetically by last name. Materials with no name and no date are located at the end of the series. Series 2 )Personal Papers are arranged chronologically, then alphabetically by folder name. Materials with no date are located at the end of the series.
Collection contains student family histories and papers prepared for Dr. Seligmann's classes dating from 1973-2005. The reports include information such as family trees, maps, photographs, and narratives on family members. Dr. Seligmann's personal papers date from 1955-1991. These papers contain correspondence, committee notes, class material, grant proposals, and committee information.
Contains oversized materials from reports and papers including newspaper articles, maps, and other photocopied items. Items that have been moved to oversized box will have memo in file with student report that indicates the item's location.
Items include a family tree, maps, and newspaper clippings. This box also contains the Domincan Republic Collection, John L. Adams Collection, and Mary Arden Club Collection.
