Joe Bailey was a librarian at the University of North Texas from 1957 to 1981, when he retired. He served as a reference librarian, interim director of the libraries, and as assistant director. He was a native of Carrollton and received his undergraduate degree and MLS from UNT. He earned his Master's from George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee. He worked at several institutions during his career, including: Murray State College, Southern Methodist University, and West Texas A&M University. He died in March, 1994.
