Dr. Sarah Law Kennerly was born September 28, 1910 in Winnsboro, Fairfield County, South Carolina.  She died on April 19, 2002 in Denton Texas. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Winthrop College, Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1931.  She received a Master of Library Science from Emory University in 1949.  She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1957. She joined the faculty of the School of Library Science at North Texas State College (now the University of North Texas) in 1951.  Dr. Kennerly retired in 1977.  The Board of Regents granted Dr. Kennerly the title professor emeritus in 1990.

The items in this collection document the academic achievements of Dr. Sarah Law Kennerly. This includes the college diplomas she earned from 1931 to 1957. . A set of early family photographs of the Kennerly family make up part of the collection. There is also a small set of artifacts.
