Guide to the Birdie Stringer Collection 1915/1965 University Archives Overview of the Collection Birdie Stringer Collection 1915-1965 01/AR0326 1.00 English University Archives Birdie Orena Stringer was born August 7, 1892 in Van Zandt County Texas. Her parents were Nancy Ann Cox (1861-1905) and Isaiah Franklin Stringer (1857-1930). She was a Texas school teacher who was trained at the North Texas State Normal in 1918 and at the Tyler Normal School. She taught at the Hobbs School and Wilsons Chapel in Ben Wheeler; Tundra, Texas; Martin’s Mill; Rocky; Athens; and Black Jack, Texas. She was the assistant principal at the Lone Star School in Tundra, Texas. She married Guy Maurice Williamson (1883-1954), a traveling Baptist Texas Preacher. They had two children, Jesse Isaiah Williamson and Nancy Williamson. Birdie died November 8, 1975 in Grapevine Texas. Access Terms
