The NTSU 1962 Time Capsule was buried on May 15th, 1988 coinciding with the renaming of the North Texas State University to the University of North Texas. The capsule was buried alongside the NTSU 1962 time capsule in front of the Hurley Administration building. Both capsules were sealed inside 9 x 14 x 11 copper boxes, and the 1988 capsule was sealed within steel reinforced concrete.

This one box collection contains objects from the UNT 1988 Time Capsule (1962-1988). This collection is organized into two series. Series 1 contains documents, letters, and newspapers, which are organized by date into 36 legal-sized folders. Series 2 contains objects and North Texas memorabilia housed inside the series 1 archival box.
