A letter to Head Music Librarian Morris Martin from Mrs. Miller explains that the orchestral manuscripts originally belonged to Vaughn Monroe. The materials apparently resided at St. Joseph College of Florida in Jensen Beach, FL, whose campus was purchased by the Florida Institute of Technology. Mrs. Miller worked there beginning in 1973, found the Monroe papers in a storeroom, and took custody of them after finding no interest in keeping them at FIT.
Mrs. Miller wrote that she gave most of the material to “the dean of the school” (presumably with the Florida Institute of Technology) when her family moved to Texas in 1980, but had kept these materials.
At the time of processing, a folder of Moon Maids publicity materials was found with this collection, but was not apparently part of the original collection. It is now Folder 6 in this collection.
