The collection contains posters, prints, reproduction of prints and advertisments. The collection includes some original artwork. Some of the subjects depicted are landscapes, Indians, animals, cowboys, Texas Rangers, Texas Declaration of Independence, people and missions.

Biographical Note

A native of Amarillo, Mike Cox grew up in Austin and moved between various newspaper jobs while attending Angelo State University, Texas Tech, and the University of Texas. He also later attended Texas State University. Cox is the author of 31 nonfiction books and was elected to the Texas Institute of Letters in 1993. He has also written hundreds of articles and essays for a variety of publications as a freelancer over the last five decades. He currently edits the internationally circulated Wild West History Association Journal since 2015.

In September 2011, Mike received the A.C. Greene Lifetime Achievement Award and two of his books were included in the recently published 101 Essential Texas Books. Cox’s bestseller is his 2008 history of the Texas Rangers and his book with Dean Smith, Cowboy Stuntman: From Olympic Gold to the Silver Screen, won three national awards, including the Will Rogers Medallion in 2014.

A former award-winning newspaper reporter, Cox served as chief of media relations for the Texas Department of Public Safety and later as communications manager for the Texas Department of Transportation, before retiring in 2007. He came out of retirement in 2010 to work for the state as a spokesperson for Texas Parks and Wildlife. He retired from regular day jobs again in February 2015 in order to write full time.
