Abstract

This collection contains student genealogy reports and family histories, as well as other assorted student papers.  Dr. Seligmann’s personal papers are in the second series.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

Collection contains student family histories and papers prepared for Dr. Seligmann's classes dating from 1973-2005. The reports incluse information such as family trees, maps, photographs, and narratives on family members.  Dr. Seligmann's personal papers date from 1955-1991. These papers contain correspondence, committee notes,  class material, grant proposals, and committee information.

Biographical Note

Gustav “Gus” L. Seligmann comes from a military family and attended schools in Germany, Virginia, Oklahoma, and New Mexico while growing up. He earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in history from New Mexico A and M. (now New Mexico State University). His Ph.D. was awarded to him at the University of Arizona in 1967.
