The Federation of North Texas Area Universities was established in 1968 with guidance from the Texas Higher education Coordinating Board. The federation facilitates the sharing of resources between member institutions. It allows students to enroll and pay tuition in one school, then select course offerings from the member institutions for credit.
Graduate students, perusing a degree or certificate, may also cross-register for courses at member institutions. These students need the approval of their departments and checking that there are no restrictions on the courses they seek to take.
The Federation has thirteen committees to strengthened the collaboration between the members.
