Scope and Contents of the Materials
Margaret Galloway worked as a librarian at the North Texas State University (NTSU). and the University of North Texas Libraries for more than 30 years. She began before 1968 and retired in 1997. In 1968 she was working as an Assistant Acquisitions Librarian, and by the 1980s she began working as the Assistant Director of the libraries under the leadership of Edward Johnson. From 1987 to 1988 she acted as Interim Director of the Libraries until Donald Grose took over in 1988.
Margaret Galloway oversaw the library during a time of great change that included the launching of the online catalog in 1986. The investigations into taking the library's catalog online began as early as 1971 when her fellow acquisitions librarian, Louise Evans, accompanied her to San Antonio to attend an automation conference.
This collection primarily concerns her time in the Library Director's office, either as Assistant or Interim Director. It includes goals and objectives for each department, equipment requests, organizational charts, plans for reorganization and remodeling, staff development, plans for the Historical Collection, disaster planning, and research and updates on computers and computer databases.
