|Title:||Allen and Madeleine Forte Memorial Collection, 1910-2014|
|Primary Creator:||Forte, Allen|
|Other Creators:||Forte, Madeleine (1938-)|
|Arrangement:||Files are presented in the order in which they were found. Where a particularly large file needed to be housed in separate folders, they are numbered (e.g., "folder 1 of 2; 2 of 2"). It is common to find sub-folders "nested" in other folders, or multiple folders in a file. That system of organization has been maintained.|
|Date Acquired:||06/11/2014. More info below under Accruals.|
Scope and Contents of the MaterialsThe collection consists of 27 boxes of writings, sketches, analyses, and other personal and unpublished papers, along with some photos and videocassettes from the career of music theorist and educator Allen Forte. An additional donation in the summer of 2015 added two boxes of sound and video recordings from Madeleine Forte, as well as Allen Forte's doctoral cap, gown, and hood for the honorary doctorate he received from Eastman School of Music in 1978.
