Scope and Contents of the Materials
The papers in this collection concern events, activities, and academic developments that Dr. Lane was involved with as the Vice-President of Development. The papers cover the years 1989 through 1994.
Dr. Peter B. Lane earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1961. He served two tours as a fighter pilot in Vietnam. He earned his Master’s (1969) and Ph.D. (1972) from the University of Washington-Seattle. His doctorate concerned Eastern European history. He served as the Vice-president of Development for the University of North Texas from 1991 to 1996. He then served as a visiting professor of history at UNT until his retirement in 2000. In 2011, Congressman Michael C. Burgess appointed Dr. Lane, Colonel, United States Air Force (retired) to the Service Academy Advisory Board. Dr. Lane also served as a trustee of the Texas Air Force Association. He was a co-author, with Dr. Ronald Marcello, of Warriors and Scholars: A Modern War Reader.
