Barcode 706972. 376 negative strips. Explanation from note on accompanying envelope:
"This group of negatives covers my work at the University of North Texas throughout the year 1969. Bill Farmer, a student at the university and a fine pianist, was with me at almost every function in which I was active to document this last year of the unbelievable sixties!
"In my large jazz classes I had all kinds of students, many of whom were in the Vietnam War protests to try to get that war closed down. Some came to class even on cold days with their shoe strings tied together and then hanging them around their necks. On even the coldest days they stayed barefooted!
"Anyway - I feel certain that these will never be processed, but if someone should take an interest and put this all together it should make quite a thorough documentary of the final year of that decade as we tried to keep jazz alive at the university! It is my hope that someday someone will come along who will be able to put this all together! -- Leon Breeden (this note prepared on 12/09/02)"
