Collection Historical Note
Sidney Renfro was born in Brownwood, Texas in 1934 to Lola Johnson and Wirt Renfro, who met at Normal College (now UNT). Both became teachers and taught high school for more than 30 years, thanks in large part to their education from the Normal College. Wirt passed away in 1972, followed by Lola in 1974. Sidney's grandmother and uncle remained in Denton and he visited the area many times, including the old historical museum.
