David Duke was born on July 1, 1950 in Oklahoma to parents David H. Duke and Alice Crick. David Duke is known as a Louisianan politician and public figure. He is currently a self-proclaimed “racist realist” and white/national supremacist.

After attending Louisiana State University, Duke began his political career with a campaign for Louisiana State Senate as a Democrat. Between 1979 and 1999 David Duke would continue failed campaigns for Louisiana senate seats, presidential nominations, gubernatorial elections and Louisianan Congress. Throughout his career, Duke switched his political identification several times to encompass not only the Democratic and Republican Party, but also the Reform, Populist, and Tea Parties. In 1988 Duke made a successful run for the Louisiana District 81 House of Representatives seat where he served till 1992. Though announcing in July of 2016 his intention to run for U.S. State Senate, Duke has yet to act as of August 2016. In December of 2015 David Duke voiced his support of 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

David Duke has become notorious for several affiliations and activities. In 1967, at the age of 17, Duke joined the Ku Klux Klan where he was so successful he became a Grand Wizard. While in college, David Duke formed the white student group, the “White Youth Alliance” that affiliated themselves with the National Socialist White People’s Party. Duke became known for donning a Nazi uniform while picketing and hosting parties on Adolf Hitler’s birthdate; one of his most infamous protests involved traveling to Tulane University in such a uniform in 1970 to denounce Jewish civil rights lawyer William Kunstler. After several violent events related to the KKK, Duke abandoned the group and instead founded the National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP), which many consider a play on the NAACP or National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

David Duke has authored several books and published medi, such as DVDs and clothing, in support of his political beliefs. Along with his now ex-wife, Chloe Hardin, Duke has two daughters, Kristen and Erika.
