Abstract

A collection of University of North Texas publications dating from 1924 to 1974.  This collection includes student handbooks, Bulletins, the 1950 Constitution of the Intersorority Council, and other publicatioins.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

University of North Texas publications dating from 1924 to 1974 that include: the Bulletin (1945-1971), student handbooks (1924-1974), Constitution of the Intersorority Council (1950), Junior Mary Arden Club (1954), Residence Hall Handbooks (for men and women, 1969), Staff Handbook (1964) and Student and Faculty Directories (1945-1956).

Collection Historical Note

Jack Wheeler (c. 1938 - 2011) received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees in 1961.  While a student he served as the president of the United Students of North Texas (1960).  He also served North Texas in a professional capacity, from 1965 to 1967, as the director of stdent personnel, associate vice president for student affairs and special assistant to the president and as a vice president for university relations. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and served as the grand president from 1975 to 1977.  Sigma Phi Epsilon awared Mr. Wheeler the Order of the Golden Heart.  Mr. Wheeler's wife, Annye Kate Blair Wheeler, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1962 and her Master of Education degree in 1965 from UNT.  She enjoyed a carer as a teacher before becoming the director of the Lomas School.  She later operated Wheeler's Art and Antique Silver in Salado, Texas.

Biographical Note

Jackie Don (Jack) Wheeler (c. 1938 - 2011) received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from UNT in 1961.  Annye Kate Blair Wheeler received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1962 and her Master of Education degree in 1965 from UNT.
