Scope and Contents of the MaterialsThis collection contains five bound volumes of the Eagle Pass Guide from 1893-1896 and 1909-1910, as well as items by and related to Joseph Boehmer, who was the editor and publisher of the paper during those years. These include photographs, original newspaper clippings, photocopies of articles, personal letters, ribbons, and pins. A selected guide to notable articles within the bound volumes is included from the previous owner. Article content covers a large swath of topics related to the Eagle Pass, Texas area, southwestern places of interest, such as the Alamo and Fort Duncan, happenings across the border, and general Texas history. Examples of period advertising are also prevalent throughout the issues.
