Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection contains original artwork, sketches and concept art, prints, published works, and cover illustrations by fantasy artist Victoria Poyser Lisi. Many items are still sealed in their original plastic covers and signed by the artist herself. Several are also framed or attached to matboards. The original pieces and sketches are largely done in watercolor or pencil, though some are painted with acrylics. The content of the pieces ranges from all manner of fantasy-related creatures and scenes, including Santa's workshop, mermaids, angels, wizards and sorcerers, dragons, etc.

Biographical Note

Victoria Poyser Lisi, also known as Victoria Poyser, is an American illustrator and artist who specializes in science-fiction and fantasy. She holds a BFA from Evergreen State College in Olympia. She was inspired to start her work by the World Fantasy Convention in 1979. She's done the cover art for many books and magazines, as well as the interior art, from the late 1970s through the 1990s. More recently, she works on children's book illustrations and instructional painting books. Her earlier paintings were largely in acrylics, but she now prefers to use watercolors. Lisi previously taught illustration for six years at Western Connecticut State University, but now lives in Colorado where she teaches drawing and painting at Aims Community College in Loveland.
