520 2  _aThe collection consists of three boxes of 78 rpm test record pressings, primarily from Columbia Records. The Columbia items often have the name of employee John Ball on the label, as well as that of Paul Affelder; such labeling appears to correspond to tentative assignments for writing liner notes. Many discs are housed in the commercially produced containers made for the finished product, though many of the discs themselves are apparently unreleased alternate takes.
545 0  _aLois Whitfield "Whit" Ozier was born on October 1, 1919 in Frederick, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 and lived most of his life in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he was a salesman, businessman, youth minister, and city councilman. Ozier was also a prolific collector of rare sound recordings, and donated an extensive collection which bears his name to the University of North Texas Music Library. Whit Ozier died in Lawton on February 3, 2004.
