545 0 _aDr. J. B. Smallwood, Jr. was a faculty member of the Department of History from 1964 to 2000. He specialized in economic history. He was also interested in conservation and the environment. He contributed to or wrote [i]Texas Country[/i] and [i]Water in the West.[/i] As a professor he taught classes on the New South and environmental awareness.
Smallwood lived in Japan from 1960 – 1964. In 1970 he led a group of Denton, Texas citizens to Japan for the “Japan World Exposition.”
J. B. Smallwood earned his B.A. and M.A. at the University of North Texas and his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina.
