Historical Note: Melissa Gamez-Herrera was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. She received a BA in Art and Art History from Colgate University in Hamiliton, NY in 2014 and is currently attending University of North Texas for a MFA in Photography. Gamez-Herrera uses photography to address issues surrounding identity, community, and justice.  In addition to using photography as a medium, she also works in bookmaking, printmaking, and other multimedia art. Her work has shown in New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. In 2019 she received the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas CADD Fund award.
