Name: Huckaby, Letitia, 1972- (1972-)

Historical Note: Letitia Huckaby was born in 1972. She has a BA Journalism from University of Oklahoma, a BFA Photography from Art Institute of Boston, Massachusetts, and in 2010 earned a MFA Photography from University of North Texas. Huckaby began her artistic career through ballet tap, jazz, and modern dance from ages 4-18. Through dance, she participated in Oklahoma Arts Institute two years in a row and was introduced to a variety of other art forms, including photography. Her early photography was photojournalistic in nature due to her journalism degrees. She then experimented with textiles and is now mostly a multimedia artist combining photography and textiles by printing onto cotton fabric and stitching together into quilts, dresses, sacks, or framed quilt tops using traditional African-American patterns.
