Historical Note: In the early 1970s, the School of Community Service was known as a Center for Community Service. By 1974, the program received its second name, the School of Community Service. The dean in 1974 was Hiram J. Friedsam. The school was composed of several centers and other units, such as Center of Behavioral Studies, Center for Studies in Aging, Center for Social Rehabilitation Studies, Association of University Programs in Hospital Administration and the State Historical Collection. (Records related to the Center for Public Service, a unit within the School of Community Service are held separately, as U0729.) In the 2006-2007 academic year, the name was changed to the College of Public Affairs and Community Service. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the name became the College of Health and Public Service to better reflect the continuing growth of the programs and degrees offered to students.
