Name: Davis, Bruce (1913-1974)



Historical Note: During his time in Denton, Texas, Bruce Davis [also known as Bruce Lacy until he legally changed his name] lived with his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Davis. He graduated from Denton Senior High School in 1929 and was a student at North Texas State Teachers College from 1929 to 1933. In addition to being a UNT alumnus, Davis was also an alumnus of the Southern Methodist University where he studied from 1933-1936. He was the Denton City Attorney from 1938 until he entered the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He returned to practicing law after being honorably discharged. He died in 1974 at the age of 61 and was survived by his wife, Louise Davis [once Louise Green of Houston prior to her marriage to Bruce Davis in 1947].
